In an interview with Radio Times magazine, Fielding was asked whether fans of the franchise can look forward to seeing Bridget back on the big screen anytime soon. Bridget Joness Diary is the devastatingly self-aware, laugh-out-loud account of a year in the life of a thirty-something Singleton on a permanent doomed quest. Romantic comedy telling the story of a neurotic thirtysomething who resolves to take control of her life once and for all. Grant's character, Daniel Cleaver, was written out of the story as he chose not to appear. The most recent movie, "Bridget Jones's Baby" (2016), focused on Bridget falling pregnant but not knowing whether the baby's father is her ex, Mark Darcy (Firth), or a charming American named Jack Qwant (Patrick Dempsey). It was followed by a sequel, "Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason" (2004), in which all three stars reprised their roles. Bridget Jones's Diary (6,043) 6.8 1 h X-Ray R Rene Zellweger stars as a 30-something Brit who resolves to take control of her life, and documents her hilarious modern travails from career to romance in her diary. The first installment in the now iconic rom-com series, based on Fielding's 1996 novel of the same name, was released in 2001 and starred Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth, and Hugh Grant.
